Mathew A. Leonard is an Associate Attorney at Landegger & Verano, where he represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters, with particular experience in employment litigation and traditional labor relations. He defends employers against claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, and breach of contract.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mathew advises employers on day-to-day workplace matters, including employee discipline, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, and the development and implementation of workplace policies. His traditional labor experience includes collective bargaining, union contract administration, grievance resolution, and strike-related matters.

Prior to joining Landegger & Verano, Mathew represented major Hollywood studios in industry-wide collective bargaining negotiations and matters arising from the 2023 Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, advising on bargaining strategy and contract implementation.

Earlier in his career, Mathew practiced as a litigation associate at national law firms, where he managed complex civil litigation, conducted workplace investigations, and represented clients in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration proceedings.

Mathew earned his Juris Doctor from the UCLA School of Law, where he received the Barry Capello Certificate in Trial Advocacy. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Vassar College, where his studies focused on French history and the Algerian Revolution.
