EMPLOYER ALERT: LOS ANGELES MINIMUM WAGE INCREASES TO $15 PER HOUR
Effective July 1, 2021
WHO DOES THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE APPLY TO?
Effective July 1, 2021, ALL employers in the City of Los Angeles and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, regardless of size and number of employees, are required to compensate employees at the increased minimum wage rate of $15 per hour.
The Los Angeles City Minimum Wage Ordinance applies to hours worked within the geographic boundaries of the City. The wage increase will apply to any employee who performs at least two (2) hours of work within the geographical boundaries of the City of LA for an employer. Please note that employers that are not required to comply with the more generous local jurisdictions’ minimum wage ordinances and only have to comply with the State of California’s minimum wage provision may continue to compensate its employees at $14 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees, and $13 per hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees.
In addition, employers must comply with the posting requirements linked below, if they have not already done so.
