Summary Judgment For Major Bank Client Obtained

Congratulations to senior associate Laura Withrow who recently won summary judgment for client East West Bank in a case alleging gender and disability discrimination, failure to provide meal and rest periods, unfair competition, wrongful termination, fraud and negligence.  Plaintiff alleged that she suffered severe emotional distress as a result of the Bank’s actions and made a settlement demand of $1.5 Million.  In holding that the Plaintiff could not, as a matter of law, demonstrate that the Bank’s reasons for not promoting her were a pretext, establish that the Bank denied her meal and rest periods, or prove that any false representations were made to her, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jan A.
